 Do you consider yourself to be a winner in life, or a loser? Contrary to popular perceptions winning has nothing to do with luck. Below are the 5 habits that separate winners from losers along with some practical techniques that will position you to win in life.

People who win in life never compromise their character for gain. From early on we develop a competitive nature to win big in everything we do. This inner drive is what compels us to reach higher, and push harder whether it’s in sports, having fun, or serious business. We all want to win, but how do we define true winners?  Is it standing in the spot light with a trophy, or standing behind your values without recognition even when it hurts.

When we have to compromise who we are to win we will lose everything in the end.  This is perhaps one of the greatest lessons to consider before putting these powerful techniques below into action.  Always stay true to yourself, and others regardless of the cost, and you will win more in life than you ever thought possible.

There is a universal law that increases the win factor enormously. Most of us growing up were not taught to consider the law of probability. We were taught to think more in terms of alternatives. If you don’t do this you won’t get that.  Don’t eat your vegetables, and you will not get dessert. These concepts teach us to be responsible, and that there’s a reward at the end of the rainbow.

The problem is these same concepts carry over into habitual thinking patterns as adults, and put limitations on everything we do. We think in order to win in life we have to punish our-selves. The gold is always on the other side of the rainbow, and never on the journey along the way. These concepts are flawed at best, and very deceitful.

To increase your win factor realize that the probability is not about how lucky you are, or how much pain your willing to put yourself through to win. It’s about mastering the ability to think, act, and react to your daily circumstances. This is what puts the success factor in your favor.

The law of probability takes a complete different approach than just alternatives. With probability winning becomes more of a science than luck, or sacrifice. You can master winning with precision using strategies where you’re most likely to come out ahead. This means that with all probability you can win in life by putting the odds in your favor.

There is a cause, and effect to every thought, and action we do, which creates both positive and negative results. This determines whether we lose or win in life. One of the most powerful ways to increase probability is through energy. Yes energy.

Our entire mental, physical, and spiritual state is all produced by energy. It takes energy to think, move, and breathe. There are two habits that both winners, and losers do that keep them on the opposite side of life. People who lose in life usually have a habit of magnifying their problems. People who win find solutions to their problems, and view the problem as something that enables them to do things better the next time around. This habit takes negative energy (problems) and uses it to become stronger, smarter, and more efficient.

The habit of solving problems helps build self- confidence, while increasing the probability to win in life. Winners do it now: Successful People have a habit of getting things done now. This habit helps eliminate problems while making things happen systematically which ultimately makes them successful.

People who lose in life are procrastinators, and usually have all the time in the world to do nothing. This is what creates insecurities, depression, and feelings of hopelessness. If you want better results start doing things that you’ve put off for a long time. Start planning each day with tasks you want to accomplish. Do whatever it takes to get things done now. The habit of now will put the law of probability in your favor.

Winners have a habit of being accountable. When you study the lives of successful people you will find that many have a tendency to hold themselves completely accountable for whatever happens in their life.  If you want to win in life then make your thoughts, and actions accountable to you only.

This will position your life for more happiness and success. Accountability puts you in complete control regardless of the outcome. When you’re not in control of your life you have no authority over what happens to you which means your powerless. The habit of accountability is a huge factor that separates winners from losers.

Developing a strategy that works is an art that’s not always easy to master. Successful people usually develop skill-sets shrouded around a strategy. They fine tune their strategy with consistency until eventually something works. They are willing to fail over, and over, until they find something that takes them to the next level. Once this happens it elevates them to newer strategies that make them successful.

Winners are not easily discouraged from obstacles. In fact some of their most successful investments started out as an obstacle. They learn to take negative energy (obstacles) and make it work in their favor.  Losers usually never have a strategy, or simply quit before it has a chance to work. Not all strategies work, but finding the ones that do is an art that people who win in life learn to master.

How to Stop Procrastinating In 5 Minutes

Anyone with ambition to stop procrastinating has good intentions, but it wont be easy. Procrastination is one of the most destructive habits for productivity, or our life for that matter. And of course it’s a lot easier to do nothing, than to do something about it. If you’re a structured procrastinator you might want to change the 5 minutes on the blog title to about an hour or so. I’ll explain below.

At the end of the day we all know that without action nothing gets done in life. I’m going to attempt to help you stop procrastinating. This will be done using one minute segments, minus the amount of time it takes to read this blog. There are two types of procrastinators. The perfectionist who never gets a lot done, or the structured procrastinator who invents ways to get out of work. Neither one is worth bragging about so if you fall into one these categories pay attention.

The destructive path of procrastination

Every once in awhile I’m able to sneak in an article without my wife Natalee reading it. Hopefully this is one of them. After 30 years of marriage, both of us fit into two separate categories of procrastination. You’re probably wondering why I’m writing an article to help you stop procrastinating in 5 minutes if I can’t help my wife after 30 years of marriage.

Anyway to make a long story short she’s a perfectionist, and for the first time ever I went through a season where I started to become a structured procrastinator. In my earlier years I was a 7 day a week full blown workaholic ( I don’t recommend this to anyone) but later in life I found myself a little richer, and older making excuses why things were not getting done.

One day it suddenly occurred to me that if I continued down this destructive path I would lose everything. Things I worked hard for throughout my life would begin to crumble including my marriage, and my wealth. It took me 5 minutes to make a decision to stop procrastinating, and from that day forward it’s never been back. Stop procrastinating for perfectionism

Perfectionism is one of the biggest reasons many people find it hard to stop procrastinating. The perfectionist tries to do things in perfect order, at a perfect time. Most people who are perfectionist find themselves frustrated, because they can’t find anything that works the way they think it should. They will avoid getting important things done to accomplish smaller tasks that in their mind have to be done first. This causes a habit of putting things off for insignificant things that don’t matter. If this is you take one minute on each of these points to consider if procrastinating is worth perfectionism.

1 min – People will not want to help you do anything, because they feel whatever they do will not be good enough.

2 min – When you try to micro manage every detail you lose sight of the overall vision in the end.

3 min – You will find yourself making simple tasks frustrating, stressful, and complicating, and as a result you will do less.

4 min – Your energy will have tension in whatever you do, and people will notice even though most likely you don’t.

5 minutes – From now on in whatever task you’re doing step back, and try to see the big picture, start moving towards that direction with the mindset that you can always go back, and tackle those smaller details as time permits.

This probably took less than 5 minutes to read, and if we consider each point carefully I think we can all agree that procrastinating for perfectionism comes with a price. The bottom line is if you’re a perfectionist learn the art of being a productive perfectionist without procrastinating on other important tasks.

Procrastinating structurally takes skill, effort, and even a little imagination. Structured procrastinators know exactly what they’re doing. They find creative ways to avoid certain tasks they know are important. They make comical  excuses to get out of doing the most insignificant tasks. They have survival instincts that let them know how to do just enough to get by. This is what makes them very creative and structured in their procrastination. After a lifetime of being a workaholic this is where I found myself a few years back.

I now see it as an opportunity to help others who can’t help themselves from procrastinating. Willpower alone is not enough to stop procrastinating. Why? Because in order for willpower to be effective it needs desire. If you’re a structured procrastinator here’s 5 things in one minute segments that should help cure you.

1 min. Remember that for every reason to procrastinate there are more reasons not to. Take a moment now to think about the consequences.

2 min – Whenever you feel overwhelmed in life it causes you to go into shut down. This is another big reason people start procrastinating. Simply start breaking down projects into smaller tasks so you can stay focused without feeling overwhelmed.

3 min – Think about your family. They need you at your best. Is procrastinating worth sending your kids off to school with embarrassing cloths to wear, or for them not to go to college to experience a better education? This is not about quilt. It’s about consequences. Stop and consider for a minute if procrastinating is worth it.

4 min – Maybe your kids are grown, and you just don’t feel it anymore in life. You’re ready to give up. Think about how hard you have worked throughout your lifetime. Are you really ready to surrender everything? Stop and consider for a minute the consequences of procrastinating your life away.

5 minutes- Desire is the foundation to every action we do in life. Without desire we die. Procrastination is a slow agonizing self-confidence killer, but desire kills procrastination fast. Your prime focus to stop procrastinating is to develop a dream with a strong desire for what you want.

I think my 5 minutes is up, but I don’t want to leave here without giving you one thought. Think about things you loved doing in the past that you’re not doing now. This could be a hobby, or something as simple as taking a walk, enjoying friends over for a card game, or going on a fishing trip to clear your mind. Do whatever it takes to get back your desires in life so your have a good reason to stop procrastinating.

If you’re just going through the motions in your daily activities you’ll never experience your full potential. Ask yourself what truly makes you feel happy, motivated, and connected to your passion. Then start moving in that direction. The more connected you are to your bliss the more oblivious you’ll be with challenges. This helps you stay focused on the big picture instead of over sweating the small stuff.
  • Make a to do list: Having a to-do list gives you a sense of direction and helps you to know exactly what to accomplish for the day.
