How to Win Power Struggles in Marriage

Power struggles is one of the biggest reasons more marriages end up in court then a life filled with love and happiness. Statistically the chances of any marriage to survive is not in everyone’s favor. As the divorce rates continue to skyrocket in marriage the sacred sacrifice of love for many have been lost.

One of the most miserable ways to live life is with someone you have grown to despise. There truly is a fine line between love and hate. If you’re going through power struggles in your marriage, you know exactly what that means. The endless arguments over the stupidest things, and the feeling of resentment, anger, and even regret. Here we will expose the root cause for power struggles in marriage, and offer real solutions that work. When you know the cause you can develop a plan to overcome them once and for all. Having a game plan for your marriage may not seem fun, romantic, or sexy, but the alternative is usually a lot worse.

 Why Power struggles?

When marriage begins certain boundaries have to be established in order for the relationship to have flow and function. These boundaries are invisible barriers that stem from our emotions, feelings, and identity. Whenever silly arguments start they usually have nothing to do with the real issue. The real issue is hidden deep down entangled with emotions that are shrouded with insecurity.

These insecurities are in denial and are usually demonstrated by the need to dominate and have power and control. Overtime we learn to hide behind our true feelings of being powerless, and unappreciated. We try hard to never let our insecurities show who we really are. There are many ways to win power struggles in marriage but here we will cut to the chase. Power struggles can be broken by three key elements that help hold the foundation of the marriage together.

Recognize: When the root cause of power struggles is recognized in marriage you have a real shot at overcoming it. There are real consequences when power struggles persist so weigh them carefully. Power struggles are like a tug-of war pulling a rope exerting every ounce of energy at all cost for victory. The problem is there’s no victory in power struggles with marriage. Both end up losing and many times the children are stuck with the consequences.

Power struggles drains the marriage and eventually causes broken dreams and wasted years of misery. Having a my way or highway attitude will eventually leave you with your worst fears. Powerless, unappreciated, not needed, and alone! Recognizing power struggle motives and realizing the consequences help give a new healthy perspective.

Trust:  It’s better to trust and be happy then not to and be miserable. Trust is not about perfection but more in honesty and dependability. Before you can truly be open and honest there has to be a willingness of trust. Trust takes time and can be lost much quicker than gaining it.

Would you trust someone who makes mistakes and admits it, or someone who lies and tries to cover it up? Many of us are guilty in one way or another if we’re truly honest! Trust is layered in the foundation of truth and without it the marriage will not stand.

Be open: Being more open takes practice, and courage because it will leave you venerable for criticism. When heated arguments start remember the real reasons are insecurities. No matter who is right the tug of war has begun and both are on a quest to win. So how can this never-ending cycle be broken or at least reduced for the purpose of sanity? You will never win with power struggles in marriage as long as you’re pulling the rope. Let go of the rope and harness your inward power to rise above the argument.

Now you’re in complete control and you will need to be as transparent open and honest as possible. This action just cut the rope in half so now there’s nothing to pull from either side. Letting go of the rope is not about being right or wrong, it’s having the power within to destroy the petty back and forth argument and rise above the insecurities.

This starting point broke the power struggles in half and has now left you vulnerable in the hands of your spouse so you can actually hear what they have to say.  This may seem like you’re setting yourself up for disrespect and a lost fight but think again. The battle may have been lost momentarily but the war is now strategic and the enemy is not your spouse but the power struggle itself.

The power of love can overcome power struggles and bring hope back into most marriages. When you feel out of love and there’s nothing left, love is still there deep down.

Some people make more mistakes than others but love covers a multitude of wrongs. Your marriage can always improve if the foundation is built on love the most powerful source in the universe. People will marry for convenience, money, companionship, religion, and so on! But with out “Love” it will never fulfill the desires of the heart. Deep down you know if you are in love or just going through the motions.

One way to make marriage completely dysfunctional is to have an appetite to physiologically overpower your spouse and try to control them intellectually. This will only tear down confidence and if you ever win you have truly lost. Find ways to give compliments and encouragement even if you have to think hard, but don’t flatter. Love is more than an emotion and with time, effort, and patience it can overcome  power-struggles.

The power of love can restore the marriage better than before and reignite the passion to accomplish lost dreams and goals. When two people marry for love, there’s a power that binds them together for any accomplishments in life. Sometimes it seems easier just to walk away then sort out the problems, but with patience love can overcome power struggles.

Develop a gameplan to win

The marriage life without a plan of action is like building a house without an architect. Your marriage should be more than hope for the best and plan for the worst. Most people remember their wedding day and how magical the moment seemed, but things change over time and so do people. The marriage will go through never-ending cycles of change with ups and downs, but the magic is rekindled the moment a vision is born that both agree on and are willing to embrace each other for it.

Having a marriage plan together with goals helps bring clarity back into the relationship. Planned goals are easy when things are going well in marriage but hard when they’re not. When a marriage is under having goals seem pointless! But something powerful happens when both can still agree on set goals despite differences.

Often times when the marriage is on the brink of divorce, restoration is closer than you might think! After 28 years of marriage raising a son and two daughters, I’ve learned a few things about marriage and parenting. There was a time when our marriage was on the rocks and I was blinded with good intentions. I thought what more does she want from me, I work hard supply our needs and never stop.

You see, that was the problem I never stopped! I never stopped to recognize her or tell her how much I love and cherished her. I never stopped to be Open and tell her who I really was and how I really felt about our marriage, life and my insecurities.  And I lost my way and couldn’t even Trust myself not to mention anyone else in life.

Having a marriage plan was the last thing on my mind! You can begin today and avoid the lessons I had to learn by putting in place a plan of action to destroy power struggles for what they are, and begin a new life of vision and purpose. This is the way you win power struggles in marriage.

Final thoughts

Rise above the petty arguments and break free from the bonds that keep the marriage back. This plan of action is a 100% commitment. Not my way or highway. This plan when used properly will  change the circumstance in marriage power struggles and create the life you both deserve.

Learning the art of self-confidence can actually make you healthier, happier, and more successful. You will build better relationships, have more money, energy, and enthusiasm. These are only a few of the benefits that are available when we overcome our fears, and grow in self-confidence. There is a way that leads to a positive life filled with purpose, expectation,  and happiness.


Growing more self-confidence in life   

Before we can grow more self-confidence we have to be willing to face our true colors. If we ignore feelings of low self-esteem eventually it can sabotage our identity, affect our personality, and leave us empty with no purpose in life. The root cause is usually traced to social conditioned fear from early on. Fear of failure … fear of others … fear of our-self, and fear of facing the truth.

You might think this is a psychological disorder few face, but think again. Studies have now shown that most people simply don’t like themselves, not to mention have the self-confidence to overcome many of the fears we all face. Here are some simple tips to grow more self-confidence,

  • Make yourself more accountable: Becoming accountable for every action we take is not always easy. But when we do something happens in our lives. We become more powerful. Otherwise we become a victim of circumstance, lose our authority, and blame others for our mistakes. Accountability is what puts us in the driver’s seat of our life, and establishes much better self-image.
  • Embrace the power of change: If you find yourself going in circles getting nowhere it maybe time to evaluate your career, relationships, friends, and so on. When our actions are moving us farther away from what we truly want it’s time to make some positive changes in our life. If not eventually our actions will lower our self-confidence because deep down we know it’s time for a new direction. The power of change is in our own hand, and we can choose to use it at anytime.

Practice failing forward

The fear of failure is something we all have to face at some point in our lives. Playing it safe usually never brings out the extraordinary potential inside us. Failure is really only practice for those who learn from their mistakes.

Our failures sharpen us: make us do things better, faster, and a whole lot smarter the next time around. In fact people willing to fail increase their probability of success. That’s right … Any great achievement can only be done through many failures. Overcoming our failures is not an easy task, but when the mind sees only possibilities nothing can stop it. As a result we can use failure as a stepping stone to move us forward with each lesson we learn.

What keeps people from rising above mediocrity, and making positive changes? It takes courage to look inside and admit that some form of fear has caused us to play it safe. Developing more self confidence also helps you overcome the fear of rejection, because you don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. Here’s a few tips below.

  • Don’t fear being wrong: People who fear being wrong are usually not decision makers at work, or at home. So being right, or wrong has nothing to do with your ability to make smart choices. But your confidence level plays a huge roll in how you make decisions. When you develop enough self-confidence to face being wrong once in awhile it’s not always a bad thing.
  • Recognize when fear dominates your life: Fear is very subtle, and hard to detect. It’s victims seldom know the root cause. They don’t realize that it’s their fear that has robbed them of joy, and happiness their entire life. To overcome fear we must have the courage to recognize the areas in our lives where it has dominated our thoughts, actions, and decisions.

Your confidence is a mindset that people notice immediately. Our thought patterns dominate our every move including our body language. Whether you know it or not your body language sends off signals what kind of person you are to those around you. They can easily determine your level of self-confidence by the way you walk, talk, and act.

Personally I feel more comfortable doing business with a self-confident person over someone who’s withdrawn, nervous, or unsure of themselves. But even those with these characteristics can improve their body language, and completely turn their confidence around. How? By changing the way they think about themselves. Our thought patterns are like a mirror that reflects our self image.

Our body language speaks louder than words. Anyone who wants to improve their body language outwardly can only do so when that invisible mirror (our thoughts) reflects a confident person inwardly. Self-confidence is a mindset that alters our self development, and personal success  in everything we do.

What does self confidence, and arrogance have in common? Absolutely nothing. Many mistakenly think of self-confidence as self-centered arrogance when actually the opposite is true. Without confidence you deprive yourself of your potential which is what your family needs most. People who are arrogant have a need to brag about themselves with insecurities that are trapped in fear. But a confident person knows who they are inwardly, and has no need, or desire to brag about themselves.

Having inner confidence is relaxing not tense. It feels natural, comfortable, and easy when you’re confident about yourself.  Arrogance causes pressure with a need for attention and exaltation. Does this sound like self-confidence to you? With inner confidence you won’t need to impress people or pretend to be someone you’re not.

Unleash the power within, and embrace a better youPower is not always money or position. There is a power within you that can create the life you’ve always dreamed, but first you must harness it, and then learn to master it.  This is where the impossible becomes possible, and  imagination ignites a dream. Once you have a vision in your mind, and a deep desire to make it a reality nothing will stand in your way including fear. Once you master these skills you’ll be able to create any life you desire, and become unstoppable.

How to Enjoy Your Life With Imagination

Life is a busy place with constant challenges that keep us so preoccupied many of us have little time for imagination. But without it our logical mind completely dominates our thoughts with little room to think big. We forget to imagine the possibilities. When all the dust settles do you enjoy your life? Think of a time in your life when you were truly happy. I remember as a little boy spending an entire summer staring at the stars pondering all the possibilities in my life. This invincible feeling began to fade as I grew older replacing imagination with logic, and practicalities.

I had to learn like everyone else to survive in a world filled with challenges. But as I grew older, and a little wiser I realized that you can’t accomplish much without imagination. Sometimes it’s easy to get so preoccupied we forget what makes us happy. The purpose here is to provide simple ways to enjoy your life with practical solutions using your imagination.

How imagination brings more happiness

When it comes to enjoying life there are few things more important than understanding what makes you happy. Everything flows naturally with more rhythm, and enthusiasm when you feel happier.

Enjoying our life should be one of our highest callings. We all know that everyday we face challenges, and there’s no magic pill to make them all go away. However there are ways to minimize some of them, and eliminate others altogether.

Our imagination can do wonders when we use it in our favor.  It can help us to visualize how it may feel once we experience a certain dream, or goal we want to achieve. Imagination can bring out new ideas, new innovations, and resources, that could never happen relying solely on logic. It can skyrocket your self image beyond your wildest dreams. And most importantly it can make life more fun, and enjoyable. The more you enjoy your life, the more happiness in every aspect of your life.

Never stop dreaming

We are all born with an imagination from early on, but many of us lose it along the way. We stop dreaming. We follow our head knowledge without any heart knowledge. We learn to be logical, skeptical, and practical. Which are needed to a certain point, but they can also be unhealthy, unbalanced, and work against us.

The logical mind hates change, and will fight you around every corner to keep things as they are even though positive changes are desperately needed.

Without change we become stagnate. Without imagination we lose sight of hope, and push happiness off for another day. When we stop dreaming we lose focus on things that matter most.

Develop a desire for success

Developing a desire for success helps create the energy. and intensity needed to accomplish whatever you set out to do. This will increase your focus so you don’t lose sight of what you want to achieve. Your imagination is the gateway to success. Think about the things you want in your life, then imagine the benefits that will come once you’ve accomplish them. For example: How they will improve your lifestyle. How accomplishing them will free your schedule, so you have more family time, less stress, and more money to enjoy your life.

The reason many don’t enjoy their life is because they have no desire. Without desire life is meaningless. So instead take steps to develop a dream. Something with vision, purpose, and conviction. Something that causes you rise early with enthusiasm toward a definite goal.

For example it could be a business, more personal growth, or a certain relationship. Whatever hits your sweet spot just do it, and develop that inner desire to win so you enjoy your life with more reason behind your ambitions instead of going through the motions.

Motivate yourself into action

Whenever you feel drained, or depressed try using your imagination to spark some motivation. For example think about your bills being paid off, your home is clean, and your on your way to the beach. Sounds like wishful thinking…. Ok I agree, but you’ll be amazed how a few of these simple exercises can motivate that inner drive to start getting things done. Sometimes all it takes is one small action to create momentum, and avoid unproductive habits.

Stay Motivated: Most of us can muster up something that motivates us for a day, or maybe a week, but how many can stay motivated all year ? Motivation is that inward driving force that pushes you to reach higher in your life. You can find an endless supply of websites, books, seminars, and coaches all teaching basically three principles to get motivated.

  • Be Positive
  • Just do it
  • Never give up

This is great advice, but it’s not quite that easy. There’s a little more to it then catchy phrases. Without imagination you will not get very far. When you have all of these working together systematically inside of you…… You’ll become unstoppable. You will naturally be at your best creating results that make you very successful. Let’s face it ….When we experience positive results we think better, work better, and feel better which creates the environment to enjoy your life more.

One of the most effective ways to go a new direction, and recreate your life story is to get to know yourself better. Creating a positive life usually only happens the moment we choose to take a hard look inside ourselves for answers. Many of us go through life being told who we are from every source imaginable, directly and indirectly. We enter this world with no concept of who we are or why were here.

Soon afterwards our life becomes a living story that reflects how we feel about ourselves, and others. We become a living open book to the outside world whether we like it or not. People read the headlines every day. Our character speaks volumes about who we are inwardly. The outside world is only a self reflection of the inward heart.

Research has shown that most of us simply don’t like ourselves not to mention realize our inner potential. We are uniquely created with unimaginable power, and potential. We can rewrite our life story at any time, and create any life we envision. Yet for many of us we never get to experience that awaking moment when everything changes for the better. To experience that driving force that motivates us inwardly to get up each day with a feeling of expectation. To gain a deeper understanding of ourselves with more clarity, and surety. Do you want more positive things to happen in your daily life? The more you get to know yourself the easier it is to have success in whatever you do.

For example: is this coming from coworkers who don’t know you personally, or from family and friends who care with good intentions, but don’t understand a new direction you’re taking. Don’t be tossed like a leaf in the wind without reason and purpose. If you spend your life trying to please everybody you’ll never experience happiness, or have the capacity to define yourself as a human being.

When you look inside yourself what do you see? Most people in general don’t know who they are themselves, so can they tell you who you are? Only you can answer that. There are several problems when you look to other people for an opinion about yourself. We live in a materialistic world, and people naturally try to define you based on your possessions, and outward appearance. (Examples)

  • Your career: the first thing many people want to know about you is your business, or career. Basically how much your worth.
  • Your appearance: Try putting on some old wrinkled clothes, and going into public to see if people treat you the same.
  • Where you live: Unfortunately people may determine your worth by where you live.
  • The car you drive: if you’re driving an old beat up car you’re probably not going to be very popular.
  • Your popularity: Many of us are defined in social circles by how popular we are.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does put things into perspective.

Recreate your life story

Basically we are conditioned to keep up with the Jones. Ask yourself this?Are you some kind of robotic cookie cutter humanoid living on a planet, or created by God with unique attributes, and extraordinary potential. I believe the latter is much more accurate. And his love for each of us has no end. You can recreate your story, and reclaim your life passion with confidence.

No person on earth has the power, or insight to define who you are. The pen that writes your story is in your own hand, and knowing who holds it may take a lifetime. These are only the basics to get to know yourself better, and rewrite your legacy, your life story, and your ultimate destiny.

Are You a Critical thinker, or Average Joe?

Critical thinkers can usually pinpoint fear tactics, swayed agendas, and the sources behind them immediately. Unfortunately the average Joe can’t.  Anyone who wants to rise above the norm must first recognize social engineering methods, and fear tactics that have been used to control societies for centuries. Before a Surgeon can remove a tumor he/she must first find the source.  For example what do you put in your mind everyday? Is it building your life up or creating fear and anxiety? These are important questions that we all need to ask ourselves.

The corporate media have a lot of power, and use it to create fear. Create the problem then market the solution. They do this to people who are not very smart. You really can’t blame them because they are putting out what sells. Many fall victim because they can’t discern what is being processed in their minds from reality. This is why becoming a critical thinker can be a great asset to your life. The ability to think, and discern can improve self-confidence while putting things under more scrutiny. Not everything we read, or hear about is true.

The average thinker does not realize from elementary school onward they’ve been conditioned to think a certain way.  They are never taught to be a critical thinker. The good news is it’s never too late to reverse this, and recreate you life story.

Learning to think beyond social conditioning & the media

There is a powerful agenda designed specifically to create a society that can’t think on its own. Once this is understood it’s easy to spot from the educational system, to governments and corrupt politics who craft laws bought and designed to control most of the world’s banking industries.

These same power structures own most of the media and no longer tolerate true journalism regardless of political party. This is not saying that all people who are in these industries are bad people! It’s saying that several are restricted from the sacred duty to humanity to present truth and not stretched exaggerations. They are being used as puppets that heed the master’s call. People can be manipulated without even knowing it.

Powers in high places

These powers are in high places with tentacles in every area of society. The structure is not crafted to have informed people able to think outside the philosophical framework. The information is now designed to bend perceptions toward the ideology they envision. This purpose is to distract you and create fear at all cost. Why? Because when a society is consumed with fear it can be manipulated and controlled easily. Fear is never satisfied until it has ultimate power over your mind, body, and soul.

The media is only a small part of this overall corruption. The design is very complex and subtle for average thinkers to discern. The worst enemy to these powerful agendas is critical thinkers who understand schemes and don’t embrace fabricated deceptions being created every day. We should all become better  critical thinkers , so we see right through fear tactics with a deep desire, and conviction to win the fight of humanity.

How to turn fear into freedom

When your mind is freed from the physiologically engineered deceptions that control every part of society you will begin to heal. This is your birth right as a human being.  To heal, and break free from the clutches of merciless fear. This is what separates a critical thinker from average thinkers. You have the power to free your mind from fear and live a happy life despite all the negative doom and gloom going on around you.

This requires a new way to think, and replaces old destructive thought patterns with new thoughts that free the mind of physiological prison held captive. Once fear is removed the shackles come off, and you can now experience the life you always needed.

Avoid outside influence

No outside influence can penetrate your mind unless you allow it. Your new thought life is now positioned to create the environment for imagination, innovation, and new ideas that could never happen before. This is exactly what’s needed to become a confident critical thinker freeing your mind from self-destruction, social conditioning, and false beliefs specifically designed to create fear.

The power of a dream

One of the most effective antidotes to demolish fear is a determined dream. Then guard your mind from negative outside influence at all cost. You have the power to choose what you believe, and what you allow your mind to process. Start seeing life through a different lens than what the corporate industries would have you believe. If you develop a vision aligned with a purpose it will occupy your time from negative influence to a productive life.
